Webcams have become an essential part of a workplace; whether you work in an office or at a home office, you need a proper webcam in order to take an active role in business meetings or regular collaboration between team members.
With the outbreak of COVID-19 and its ongoing effects, the importance of owning a PC webcam with a microphone has become even more crucial. Most people are working from home, and online meetings are the only way most employees and employers connect with each other. In one of our previous articles, we discussed the most essential features of webcams for those who are looking to buy one. Now, we want to cover two of the best 4K webcam models among Logitech products: Logitech Brio and Logitech Brio Stream.
Logitech Brio is a 4K ultra HD webcam with high dynamic range (HDR) technology, and its 13mm megapixel camera supports a resolution of up to 4096×2160.
Brio gives you a good number of options for choosing your priority when it comes to resolution and frame rate. If you go with 4K resolution, you can record videos at 30fps (frames per second), and with 1080p, you can choose between
30fps or 60fps. In case you go with 720p resolution, besides 30fps and 60fps, you can also benefit from 90fps.
Note that the higher your frame rate is, the less you will need to worry about lags in your videos, especially if you want to stream video games or face other situations that require your videos to be extra-smooth with fast movements.
Thanks to Right Light 3 and the HDR technology integrated into Brio, your video will look high-quality and clear at any level of brightness. Whether you use the webcam in a room with low light or have an office with bright sunshine and direct sunlight, your image will always be impeccably well-lit.
This Logitech 4K webcam also features a glass lens, autofocus capability, 5x digital zoom, and three different diagonal fields of view (90°, 78°, and 65°). With these features, you have many ways to adjust your frame to the one you prefer to use during a video call. For instance, you can tweak the field of view to make the angle wider or smaller or use the 5x digital zoom to decide how much of the background you want in the video.
Additionally, the Logi Tune desktop software application (compatible with Windows and macOS) pairs with Brio to provide users with even more customizations. Using Logi Tune, you can access settings related to color adjustments, manual focus, and the pan, tilt, and zoom features. Using this app, you can even have an easier time downloading firmware updates for supported Logitech devices like Brio.
Windows users who enjoy accessing their device in less than a moment will find Logitech Brio particularly useful since it contains optical and infrared sensors that allow you to benefit from quick facial recognition when you use the Windows Hello feature. This way, you can just log onto your device by looking into the camera instead of typing your password.
Logitech Brio also features a dual integrated built-in stereo microphone that supports a range of up to 1 meter. The microphone is designed with noise-canceling technology to prevent background noise amplification and deliver crystal-clear sound in any conversation.
Moving on to the contents of Brio’s box, this USB webcam comes with a USB-A to USB-C cable. Unfortunately, since the USB-C needs to connect to the webcam itself, you will need to purchase a third-party adaptor if you must connect the webcam to your device via a USB-C port.
Besides the somewhat underwhelming cable, the rest of the items included in the box are quite interesting; the box includes a detachable universal mounting clip, an attachable privacy shutter, and a travel bag. Using the universal mounting clip, you can easily and securely mount your Logitech webcam on your laptops, monitors, or LCD displays. And it should go without saying that the included attachable privacy shade will protect your webcam’s lens and keep your privacy safe and secure.
Lastly, we must note that Logitech Brio is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Chrome OS.
Logitech Brio Stream contains almost the same features as Logitech Brio––it offers autofocus, HDR technology, a glass lens, a built-in stereo microphone, brightness adjustments, and so on. You can also adjust the field of view based on your own preference and have the same three options (90°, 78°, and 65°). With this Logitech streaming webcam, you can also benefit from facial recognition on Windows Hello.
However, there are also some minor differences between the two models. For starters, Logitech Brio Stream only provides two quality options: 4K at 30fps or 1080p at 60fps. In other words, unlike Logitech Brio, with this streaming webcam, you cannot stream at 90fps or choose between 30fps and 60fps when you set the resolution at 1080p.
But the main feature that sets Logitech Brio Stream apart is probably the fact that this model is optimized for streaming, as the name suggests. As Logitech claims, this webcam offers consistent frame rates, prevents annoying lags, and greatly adjusts to various lighting situations.
Brio Stream also comes with a 12–month XSplit Premium license, which gives you full access to the enhanced features of XSplit Broadcaster and XSplit Gamecaster.
Additionally, Logitech Brio Stream benefits from compatibility with the Logitech Capture application, which allows you to customize your recordings, set your preferred camera settings, create vertical videos, and much more.
Unfortunately, unlike Logitech Brio, Brio Stream is compatible only with Windows 8 or later.
These two Logitech 4K webcams with microphones, which come with a wide range of unique features and capabilities, are some of the best and most excellent options available in the market.
So, if you are not on a budget and are currently looking to purchase a high-quality webcam with 4K resolution, high frame rates, and a good range of customizations, you should consider Logitech Brio Ultra HD and Brio Stream Webcam.
Lastly, if you are an iMac user looking for a top-notch webcam, then stay tuned as we will cover Logitech’s 4K Pro Magnetic Webcam, a webcam very similar to Brio and known as one of the best 4k webcams for Mac users.
